AxMxP Makes a Return with First Mini Album “Amplify My Way” on January 21.
Last September, AxMxP made their debut with a full-length album, showcasing a wide musical spectrum by expressing diverse genres and stories in their own unique style. In particular, AxMxP solidified their presence as a “mega rookie band” with their impressive scale, featuring three title tracks, and quickly rose to prominence as a rising force in the next generation of bands, appearing at major domestic festivals.
Following this growth, their first mini-album, “Amplify My Way,” further expands on AxMxP’s musical direction and narrative of youth. The album captures the story of young people who, instead of setting a fixed dream and running towards it, discover the shape of their dreams at their own pace as they live their lives. Through different perspectives on dreams, AxMxP completes a “spectrum of dreams” that resonates with today’s youth in their own ways, clearly paving their own path.
The album features two title tracks. The first title track, ‘PASS,’ is a Rage Rock track combining Metalcore and Phonk sounds, characterized by sharp electric guitar riffs and repetitive synth loops. The aggressive beat and relentless progression symbolize breaking through obstacles without hesitation, and the motif of “PASS” signifies the confidence that no obstacle can stop them. The straightforward lyrics and explosive energy of the sound further solidify AxMxP’s strong presence and their relentless pursuit of overcoming limitations.
The second title track, ‘Thereafter,’ is a modern rock song that begins with an emotional piano melody, gradually building emotion, and then exploding with a powerful band sound in the chorus. The lyrics, which repeatedly recall unforgettable moments and express the longing to relive those moments, deeply portray the earnestness of striving to reclaim love and the trembling anticipation of a destined reunion.
The ‘PASS’ music video, which focuses on performance rather than story, vividly captures the members’ individuality and explosive energy against a backdrop of dark hard rock and hip-hop. The ‘Thereafter’ music video tells the story of four boys who are suddenly kicked out of their studio and continue to play music regardless of time or place. From a hospital and an elevator to a public restroom and finally to a stage, it depicts the unyielding passion of a youth band dedicated to music in a kitschy and witty way.
AxMxP’s first mini-album contains a total of seven diverse tracks, including the double title tracks. The new album includes tracks such as ‘Too Much,’ a powerful rap-core track with overwhelming volume; ‘Punch-Drunk,’ which vividly expresses the dizzying feeling and addictive nature of falling in love; ‘I Melody You,’ a pop-rock track where soft strings and clean-toned electric guitar melodies flow seamlessly; ‘Bittersweet,’ showcasing AxMxP’s unique crossover sound that blends rock, hip-hop, and ballad; and ‘Be Yours,’ Kim Shin’s first self-composed song.
Frontman Ha Yoojoon participated in writing the lyrics for all the songs on this album, demonstrating remarkable musical growth. His lyrics, infused with his own emotions and experiences, further clarify the team’s identity. Kim Shin took the lead in writing, composing, and arranging “Be Yours,” contributing to the expansion of AxMxP’s musical spectrum. In particular, Kim Shin significantly enhanced his vocal presence in this mini-album, adding more diverse colors to the team’s vocal sound.
