The Vince Staples Show has been cancelled by Netflix after two seasons, reportedly due to low ratings.

Inspired by Donald Glover’s Atlanta, the show followed the rapper in a surreal fictional version of his life as he navigated daily challenges in his home of Long Beach, California. The show’s first season debuted successfully on the streamer in 2024, however the second has not enjoyed the same reception since its premiere last November.
According to Deadline, the second season was Number 1,446 on Netflix’s Second Half of 2025 viewership report, earning 1.7million views from its November 6 release to the end of the year.
By comparison, season one drew 4.6million views over a period of four months, and given most streaming shows get most of their views upfront, it represents a significant dip between seasons. Lasting just 11 episodes across both seasons, the show featured Rick Ross, Naté Jones, Arturo Castro as guest stars, while Vanessa Bell Calloway and Andrea Ellsworth had recurring roles.
Staples’ most recent album was ‘Dark Times’ released in 2024. Prior to that, his 2022 album ‘Ramona Park Broke My Heart’ scored a four-star review from NME.
Kyann-Sian Williams wrote: “Emphasising Staples’ versatility, ‘Ramona Park Broke My Heart’ continues the revival of hip-hop’s golden age (also epitomised by Cordae‘s 2021 album ‘From A Birds Eye View’). The production is clean and the rhymes imaginative as the artist digs deeper than ever before.
“Yes, ‘Vince Staples’ was a beautifully personal reflection from start to finish, but ‘Ramona Park…’ enriches the listener’s relationship with the rapper – who hasn’t looked back on their former home with mixed feelings and deep nostalgia?”
In other music news, Vince Staples was recently announced as part of Bonnaroo’s 2026 line-up, alongside The Strokes, Turnstile, Skrillex, Noah Kahan and more. The festival returns to Manchester, Tennessee from June 11 to 14 next summer.
