Kenan and Kel reuniting for new horror comedy film

Comedy duo Kenan and Kel are reuniting for a horror comedy where they meet Frankenstein’s monster.

Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell shot to fame with their Nickelodeon sitcom Kenan & Kel, which ran from 1996-2001. They also starred in the 1997 comedy movie Good Burger, which went on to become a cult hit. The pair made a sequel, Good Burger 2, in 2023.

Thompson is also the longest serving cast member of Saturday Night Live, having been with the show since 2003. However, he will be teaming up with his regular collaborator once again for a new comedy movie, titled Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein, as announced by the pair on the Amazon show Good Sports.

According to the official synopsis, the story follows “two delivery drivers whose routine drop-off takes a terrifying turn when they arrive at a creepy, out-of-place castle and accidentally awaken Frankenstein’s monster — turning an ordinary night into a fight for survival.”

“Kel and I have always loved finding new ways to work together, and this project felt like the perfect mix of nostalgia, comedy, and something completely unexpected,” said Thompson in a a statement (reported by Variety). “We’re excited to bring a fresh take on a classic monster story and have some fun doing it.”

“Coming back together always feels natural, and this lets us tap into everything people love about our dynamic while trying something totally new,” Mitchell added. “It’s funny, it’s scary, and it’s a great ride.”

In 2022, Kenan & Kel received renewed interest online due to the passing of Coolio, who wrote the theme tune for the show. Thompson paid tribute online, wishing that the artist “Rest In Power”, while Mitchell paid a lengthy tribute to the rapper.

He wrote: “Last thing you told me when we last spoke a few months ago, you told me you loved how I keep things positive and to keep doing that.”
