‘High School Musical’ actor Matt Prokop arrested on child pornography charges

High School Musical actor Matt Prokop has been arrested on child pornography charges.

As TMZ reports, the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office in Texas released Prokop’s mugshot yesterday morning (Tuesday January 13).

He was arrested on Christmas Eve (December 25) on multiple charges, including alleged possession and promotion of child pornography, and evading and resisting arrest.

At the time, it was reported that Prokop was in custody at the county jail, and was being held without bail.

Prokop, 35, was arrested for allegedly violating bond conditions from a previous set of charges, stemming from 2024.

That year, the actor was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, actor Sarah Hyland. He was charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest.

Hyland had previously obtained a restraining order against Prokop, alleging that he was verbally and physically abusive to her. He was ordered to stay away from Hyland for three years.

It is currently unclear how Prokop allegedly violated his bond conditions that led to his arrest over Christmas. He has not yet responded to the charges levelled against him, at the time of writing.

A court date has not yet been set.

Prokop played Jimmie “Rocket Man” Zara in Disney‘s High School Musical 3: Senior Year. His other acting credits include Hannah Montana, The Office US and Modern Family.

The actor was born in Victoria, Texas, but moved to Los Angeles, California aged 16 to pursue an acting career. He also portrayed Josh Rosen in the Disney Channel original film Geek Charming (2011).
