Scarlett Johansson has been dethroned as the highest grossing movie star of all time, by Avatar actress Zoe Saldaña.
The recent third instalment of the James Cameron sci-fi saga, Avatar: Fire And Ash, has propelled the Oscar winner to the top of the list, according to website The Numbers.
Her involvement in the franchise, along with her roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Trek, has moved her to the number one spot with $15.46billion (£11.48billion), just overtaking Johansson on $15.40billion (£11.44billion).
The highest male star on the list is Samuel L Jackson, with $14.6billion (£10.8billion), although he has twice the listed appearances as those above him.
Saldaña shot to fame in the late ‘00s, appearing in a string of high-profile movie hits. She took on the role of Lieutenant Uhura in JJ Abrams’ 2009 Star Trek reboot, and appeared in its two sequels. Later that year, she would play Neytiri, the lead female character in Avatar, which remains the highest grossing film of all time.
In 2016, she would join the cast of The Guardians Of The Galaxy, playing the role of Gamora in the James Gunn-directed Marvel blockbuster. She would appear in two more sequels, as well as playing a significant part in Avengers: films Infinity War and Endgame, also two of the highest grossing films of all time.
Outside of blockbuster movies, last year she won a BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Oscar for her performance in the Spanish-language drama Emilia Pérez. Her BAFTA speech was cut from the original broadcast, reportedly due to time constraints.
Despite losing the top spot, Scarlett Johansson continues to be a box office draw, starring in the hit sequel Jurassic World Rebirth last summer. She is also currently in talks to appear in the DC sequel The Batman Part II with Robert Pattinson, which recently added new recruit Sebastian Stan.
