Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has become the best user-reviewed game of all time, according to review aggregate site Metacritic.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was released last year and went on to become one of the best-reviewed games of 2025, according to critics. Over the weekend, fan reviews for the hit fantasy role-playing game pushed it to the top of Metacritic’s Best Games By User Score table.
It currently has an average rating of 9.6 out of 10 while its closest competition (Disney Cory In The House) has a user score of 9.3.

Last year, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 broke Game Awards record when it won nine trophies, including the prestigious Game Of The Year award, at the 2025 ceremony.
As a thank you to fans, developers Sandfall Interactive released a free expansion that featured new end game boss battles, the fan-requested photo mode, several quality of life changes and more gorgeous music courtesy of composer Lorien Testard.
After a four-date run in late 2025, the music of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is set to tour across Europe later this year – however fans were left devastated when tickets sold out in a matter of minutes. Organisers have teased that more dates will be announced in the near future though.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 creator Guillaume Broche has also teased a sequel by revealing that Clair Obscur is the “franchise name,” and Expedition 33 is just “one of the stories that we want to tell in this franchise.”
