The first trailer for the forthcoming Malcolm In The Middle reboot has been shared.
Airing from 2000-2006, Malcolm In The Middle was a hit sitcom in which the title character, gifted middle son Malcolm (Frankie Muniz), navigates life with his eccentric family. The show also featured Bryan Cranston as Malcolm’s father, with the actor later finding critical acclaim as the star of Breaking Bad.
A new series was confirmed to return for a four-episode revival in December 2024, following a now-adult Malcolm and his family. Muniz, Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek (who played Malcolm’s mother) are also returning, although Erik Per Sullivan, who played younger brother Dewey, declined to return and has been recast.
Now, full details of the show, Malcolm In The Middle: Life’s Still Unfair have been shared along with a trailer.
“My life is fantastic now,” Muniz says in the clip, which you can watch below. “All I had to do was stay away from my family!”
But Malcolm is roped back into the family dynamic when his parents, Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek), demand that he attend their 40th wedding anniversary party.
It has also been confirmed that the show will drop in the US on Hulu and in the UK on Disney+, on April 10 next year.
Speaking about filming the new series, Muniz said earlier this year: “I’m not exaggerating when I say filming this reboot, like I loved it so much, way more than I ever thought I could have.
“We ended in May, and I haven’t talked to anybody since, you know what I mean? I’ve been gone. I’ve only been home, I think, for 12 days since the beginning of the year. I’m just always crazy, and I think next week, I’m going to have time. I’m going to reach out (to the rest of the cast).”
In February, Muniz also revealed he had rewatched the original series with his wife, and was unimpressed with his character. “Malcolm sucked,” he said. “He was the worst character on that show!”
