Bad Bunny and J Balvin squash feud and come together on stage in Mexico City

Bad Bunny and J Balvin appear to have ended their feud with a surprise performance together on stage at the former’s Mexico City concert on Sunday (December 21).

The beef between the two artists stemmed from Bad Bunny calling J Balvin a people pleaser in his 2023 song ‘Thunder y Lightning’; from his album, ‘Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana’ (‘Nobody Knows What Is Going to Happen Tomorrow’).

J Balvin responded on Instagram live, saying: “I don’t understand what was going through his head but, well, the guy I know is a good person.”

Neither artist confirmed the feud publicly, but they have not worked together since the release. This lead to speculation that they had fallen out, given that they had collaborated on several projects in the past, including the 2019 joint album ‘Oasis’ in 2019.

At Sunday’s concert, however, J Balvin joined Bad Bunny on the stage to perform their 2019 hit ‘La Canción’. They also addressed the speculation, assuring fans that any rift between them has been mended.

“I apologised a long time ago. People don’t know, but we had a conversation a few weeks ago,” Bad Bunny said in Spanish (reported by USA Today). “But we were waiting for the perfect moment to share the stage, and it’s good that it was here in Mexico.”

J Balvin addressed his reunited friend by stating: “And now, brother, we are two men standing tall, representing Latinos wherever we go, and I wish you the best,” Bad Bunny replied, “You know the feeling is mutual. I respect you a lot. I love you a lot.”

Footage and pictures of the reunion were shared by enthusiastic concert goers on social media.

Bad Bunny’s most recent album, ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’ (‘I Should Have Taken More Photos’) placed fifth in NME’s 50 Best Albums of 2025. Karen Gwee described it as “A masterwork by an artist at the peak of his powers.”

“It’s a breathtaking extravaganza in every way,” she continued. “From his joyful marshalling of salsa, bomba, plena, reggaeton and myriad other Latin styles and genres, to the scale of the storytelling: heartbreak for the ages on ‘Baile Inolvidable’, tender regret on diaspora anthem ‘DtMF’, sly and referential digs at exes on ‘Bokete’ and ‘Turista’, and sharp, sombre political observation on ‘Lo Que Le Pasó a Hawaii’.”

The artist was also confirmed to be performing the half time show at the 2026 Super Bowl, which will be held on February 8 in San Francisco, California. The National Football League (NFL) defended the decision to choose him after conservative backlash.

Bad Bunny himself poked fun at the response while hosting Saturday Night Live in October, joking that “everyone is happy” about the concert, “even Fox News.”
