The “2025 Melon Music Awards (The 17th Melon Music Awards, hereinafter MMA2025)” was held on December 20 at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. The awards considered all music released from October 31, 2024, to November 19, 2025.
G-Dragon dominated the evening with seven honors, including a sweep of three prestigious Grand Prize categories: Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Album of the Year. Jennie claimed three accolades including the Grand Prize for Record of the Year, while BOYNEXTDOOR collected four trophies.
EXO made a long-awaited return to the MMA stage after an eight-year absence, generating much excitement. The group delivered polished performances of beloved tracks including ‘Monster’, ‘The Eve’, ‘Love Shot’, and ‘Growl’, confirming their enduring talent. They also previewed ‘Back it up’ a B-side from their forthcoming album, presenting a dynamic contrast to their earlier release ‘I’m Home’.
Jennie’s performance featured ‘Seoul City’, ‘Zen’, and ‘Like Jennie’, where she commanded the stage alongside more than 50 backup dancers. Her distinctive artistry and steady live vocals throughout the elaborate production resonated strongly with attendees.
Upon accepting the Record of the Year honor, Jennie expressed gratitude to her label, production team, and the 50 dancers who joined her performance. G-Dragon delivered multiple performances during the ceremony and even interacted with the other artists, even passing his microphone to Zico while moving through the artist seating area. His triple win—Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Best Song of the Year—demonstrated his continuing influence even after a long musical break.
