Sabrina Carpenter has revealed the series of secret clues about ‘Man’s Best Friend’ that she littered throughout her ‘Manchild’ music video.

Released back in June ahead of launching her ‘Man’s Best Friend‘ album era, the pop star looked back on the hidden clues about the album in an episode of Vevo Footnotes shared yesterday (December 18). In the clip, which you can watch in full below, she looks back at concealing a clue about the record in the visuals before the album had even been announced.
“I basically hid the acronym for my new album ‘Man’s Best Friend’ on the motorcycle license plate,” Carpenter wrote over the shot of herself stamped with ‘MBF_0000’. “I didn’t see fans make the connection until after I announced the album, which was funny,” she said.
She went on to share that the shoot was initially only meant to last two days, but it was later pushed to three when she realised she wanted more scenes in it, which required 35 separate outfits, one of which was handmade to bear another album clue, with Carpenter sharing: “My sister also hand-stitched ‘manchild’ on my jean shorts.”
The video’s co-directors, Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia, said they were hoping to create something reminiscent of a “nonsensical forgotten film” inspired by “self-revelation films, Americana, and a kind of disco-era sensuality.”
Elsewhere in the new Vevo video, Carpenter revealed that “every man that you see driving a vehicle was really driving that particular vehicle” in the video, so she chose to “just let Jesus take the wheel” while on set.
She also wrote about comedy legend Lucille Balle, who she said was “one of the first great females that used humour as her superpower”, which was a source of inspiration throughout the creation of the song and its visuals.
“I like to think that it sort of happened through my writing; I felt more connected to songs that really embraced that part of my personality.”
In other news, Carpenter’s tongue-in-cheek track ‘House Tour’ was ranked at 34 in NME‘s 50 Best Songs of 2025 list. The entry read: “Pop’s reigning queen of innuendo sums up her M.O. on this effortlessly slinky funk bop, an extended come-on set to a sticky Janet Jackson-esque beat. When Sabrina Carpenter sings “I spent a little fortune on the waxed floors”, she isn’t complaining about the cost of polished mahogany.”

Earlier this month, the White House used another clip of Carpenter to promote U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which followed the singer slamming President Donald Trump‘s administration for using her music.
She had called out the White House for its “inhumane agenda” after they used her song ‘Juno’ in a video promoting ICE activity. They went on to double down on their use of Carpenter’s image with a new video posted on December 5.
The new video manipulates a clip of Carpenter in a commercial from her recent Saturday Night Live appearance, where she’s standing with cast member Marcello Hernández. The audio has been altered, making it appear as if she’s calling Hernández “illegal” instead of “hot.”
