When the Nintendo Switch 2 launched in June, owners were also able to access a handful of GameCube classics via the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. F-Zero GX, The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker and SoulCalibur 2 were available at launch with Super Mario Strikers, Luigi’s Mansion and Chibi-Robo! added in recent weeks.

Yesterday (December 10) Nintendo confirmed that Wario World was being added to the library. The 3D platformer was originally released in 2003 and sees Mario’s nemesis trying to reclaim his treasure from the evil Black Jewel via exaggerated combat and a number of puzzle mini-games.

The game received mixed reviews when it first launched but it, like many GameCube titles, has become a cult classic and its addition to the Nintendo Switch 2 online library has been met with overwhelming praise.

“I genuinely never thought Nintendo would acknowledge this game again,” wrote one fan. “I need a Switch 2 now – peak gaming is back on the menu,” added another. “Game Of The Year just dropped,” said a third.

Wario World isn’t the only game coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 Online library either. Yesterday it was confirmed N64 titles Rayman 2: The Great Escape and Tonic Trouble will be free to play for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members from December 17.

However some fans are confused about Nintendo’s unpredictable release schedule. When GameCube titles were first announced for the Switch 2, Nintendo said Super Mario Sunshine, Fire Emblem: Path Of Radiance, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness and Pokémon Colosseum would all be included but so far, none of these titles have made an appearance.

“Thought maybe you’d deliver all the games you promised first but I guess we should expect curveballs now,” wrote one fan.

In other news, buzzy rock sensation Bilmuri has shared a cover of Cyberpunk 2077 anthem ‘I Really Want To Stay At Your House’ to celebrate the hit game’s fifth anniversary.
