This is when you can watch the new season of ‘The Traitors’

The Traitors is on its way back to screens soon, but when exactly can fans expect to tune in to the first episode? Find out below.

It is only just over a month since the debut season of the celebrity spinoff reached its dramatic conclusion, with traitor Alan Carr deceiving his fellow finalists and making off with the cash jackpot for charity, before a giant television audience.

There have been three seasons so far of the standard version of the BBC reality show, in which a group of contestants are holed up in a Scottish highlands castle and attempt to identify which of them have been designated as ‘traitors’.

The traitors work together to try to eliminate the remaining contestants, or ‘faithfuls’, by ‘murdering’ them at night, while the faithfuls attempt to ‘banish’ the traitors during roundtable discussions. If any traitors remain at the end of the game, they keep the cash prize.

The show first aired in 2022 and has been hosted since the start by Claudia Winkleman. It is based on the Dutch series De Verraders and is produced by Studio Lambert, who also oversee Gogglebox and Race Across The World.

It was also confirmed last month that the celebrity spinoff will be returning in 2026 for a second season. The season one finale was described by some viewers as “perhaps the best piece of reality TV in years”.

The fourth season of the regular version of The Traitors was confirmed at the start of this year and was filmed earlier in 2025.

Like previous seasons, it had been widely expected that it would premiere during the Christmas and New Year period, although final confirmation only arrived of its air date in recent weeks.

As with season three, the opening episode of season four of the show will air on January 1 at 8pm.

There will be a total of 12 episodes in the new season, with the second instalment confirmed for the same time on January 2. Further episodes are expected to air each Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The spinoff show The Traitors: Uncloaked, hosted by comedian Ed Gamble, will return after each episode, with exclusive interviews with eliminated contestants and special guests.
