Disney World has officially shut down the Aerosmith Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster, and is underway with rebranding it as a Muppets-themed ride.

The attraction has had an Aerosmith theme for over two decades now, and came with a pre-show video featuring the members, and hits including ‘Dude (Looks Like A Lady)’, ‘Walk This Way’, ‘Back In The Saddle’ and ‘Sweet Emotion’ featured during the ride.

Last year, Disney World announced that it would be rebranding the ride, and confirmed later on that Steven Tyler and co. would be replaced with The Muppets as the main attraction.

Now it has removed all Aerosmith branding from the rollercoaster and started work to reopen it with the Muppets theme in 2026.

According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, the pre-show presentation featuring the rock giants has been removed as visitors go to the loading area, and the ride has been boarded up as construction has begun.

The Aerosmith ride, dubbed The Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster, launched in 1999 and had a peaking speed of just shy of 60mph. The new Muppets ride is predicted to open in Summer 2026, and will reportedly still take on a musical theme – focusing on the fictional band The Electric Mayhem, which sees Animal on the drums.

EW also claims that the ride will also feature appearances from Kermit, Scooter, and Dr. Teeth, alongside the penguin animatronics that are taken from the recently-closed MuppetVision 3D show.

For the Aerosmith ride, the premise was that guests join the band for a recording session, and are invited to take a hectic ride on their limousine as they race to make it to a concert in time. In a new post on the Disney Parks Blog, the new premise will be that visitors go along for the ride and have to track down members of The Electric Mayhem when they go missing before a show.

“With the help from our friends at Muppet Labs and a very fast limousine, we’ll take a twisting, turning and screamingly fun road trip across Hollywood to reach the concert in time,” the update read. “Throughout the journey, you’ll hear the Electric Mayhem playing some of the most iconic, rockin’ hits in your ears to keep the music and adrenaline pumping.”

The newly-reimagined ride comes following The Muppets releasing a rock-inspired series on Disney+ in 2023 called The Muppets Mayhem, which included appearances from huge names like Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee and Danny Trejo.

Since then, Sabrina Carpenter wrapped up her ‘Short N’ Sweet’ tour by “arresting” Miss Piggy, and Jennifer Lawrence confirmed that she was working on a Missy Piggy movie with Emma Stone.
