Fans Allege aespa’s Stylist Was “Caught” Taking Inspiration From Their Tweets

K-Pop fans love suggesting cool outfit ideas for their idols on Twitter, and it looks like aespa‘s latest stage costumes might have been inspired by one such fan tweet.

The group recently performed at the K-Link Festival, where they sang popular tracks like “Spicy,” “Drama,” and “Next Level.” This time, it wasn’t just their songs and performances that caught everyone’s attention — their outfits were a big hit, too.

In the past, aespa and their stylists have faced some criticism for their fashion choices. But at the K-Link Festival, they really stepped up their game. Each member wore stunning white outfits that were similar but had unique touches. For example, Ningning wore a cool off-the-shoulder crop top, while Giselle sported a longer top with thick straps.

What really made their look stand out were the trendy white and fluffy legwarmers all the members wore.

Soon after their performance, eagle-eyed fans noticed a striking similarity between aespa’s outfits and a viral tweet from November 4, suggesting potential inspirations from Dominnico‘s Madrid Fall 2023 collection. Much to their surprise, the similarities were striking!

This tweet, predating aespa’s performance by over a month, showcased outfits that were a perfect fit for a 4th generation hip girl group like aespa. The collection, blending motor racing influences, noughties nostalgia, and pop iconography, features Y2K-inspired elements like double-belted miniskirts, skater dresses, and bandeau tops, resonating with “Gen Z” aesthetics.

A subsequent tweet highlighting this alleged inspiration has gone viral, amassing over 21,000 likes and 6,000 retweets. The reaction from aespa’s fan base has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their love for the group’s new style direction. It’s not hard to say fans are more than excited to see the four girls trying out these cool, new looks.

Whether the stylist actually got inspired by the tweet or it’s just a coincidence, one thing’s for sure – aespa looked amazing at the festival, and fans are here for their new fashion vibe. This might even start a new trend where fans have more influence on what their favorite idols wear on stage.
