Christopher Södergren Joins Sony Music as Executive Vice President, Direct-to-Consumer Strategy and Operations

NEW YORK, September 2, 2025 – Sony Music today announced the appointment of Christopher Södergren as Executive Vice President, Direct-to-Consumer Strategy and Operations. Based in New York, Södergren will report to Kevin Kelleher, Sony Music’s Chief Operating Officer. 

In this newly created role, he will be responsible for advancing the Company’s comprehensive direct-to-consumer (D2C) strategies which include enhancing capabilities across ecommerce while partnering with every business unit at Sony Music globally including its record labels, Global Digital Business Group, international operations, the Orchard, AWAL and Ceremony of Roses.

Kelleher commented, “Part of the value we bring is how we help our artists maximize the ways they reach their fans and create commercial opportunities. Growing our ecommerce business is a top strategic priority for the Company and Christopher’s deep expertise in this area will greatly contribute to formulating and driving initiatives that optimize revenue growth.”

Södergren most recently served as Executive Vice President of eCommerce and Head of Business Operations at Universal Music Group. In that role he oversaw the growth of revenue streams through global eCommerce and artist-led brand ventures, while driving the company’s teams focusing on worldwide direct-to-consumer (D2C), and related technology, data, marketing, operations, and business development.

Prior to Universal Music Group, Södergren held senior executive roles at Warner Bros. Discovery (formerly WarnerMedia) where he led international digital ventures and innovation. He launched the movie SVOD platform FilmStruck and games streaming platform Gloud. Södergren helped build future-focused D2C sports businesses and drove international strategies to progress the Company’s games and consumer products. His earlier career includes strategic consulting roles at Boston Consulting Group and Accenture Management Consulting, where he advised top-tier clients on digital transformation, M&A, and operational strategy.

He holds a Master of Science in Technology Management and Economics from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden, with additional studies at NUS Business School in Singapore and Fudan University in Shanghai.
