NewJeans regularly connects with fans and often greets Bunnies (NewJeans’ fandom) through their own artist-to-fan communication app, Phoning.

Recently, oldest member Minji joined maknae Hyein for a fun livestream on Phoning, during which they read Bunnies’ comments and answered questions.

Minji and Hyein are known for their endearing friendship, with Minji often taking the younger member under her wing.
During their broadcast, the roles seemed to be reversed as Hyein showed just how protective she is of her unnie.

As the two members read through fans’ comments, one particular theme caught Hyein’s eye. She hilariously stated, “There are a lot of people commenting that they want to date Minji unnie…”
Minji assured Hyein that it was only because the maknae was “still too young.”

Hyein instead addressed fans who were leaving comments for Minji, jokingly becoming stern as she warned, “I’ll say this again, but don’t touch Minji unnie!”
Minji echoed Hyein’s statement, adding, “You heard that right, she said you’re not allowed!”

Hyein playfully concluded her protective declaration, saying she didn’t want Minji taken away. “Right. You can’t [date] our unnie yet, don’t take her.”

While they had their playfully protective moments, one portion of the livestream took a more serious turn, which had them genuinely looking after each other when a netizen left a malicious hate comment.
