Check out a recap from the event here.
At Sony Music Vision, we’re helping artists collaborate across the world in a way that blends music and film to further engage audiences with a range of content offerings.
Coming off an unprecedented year of high-profile documentaries helmed by prestige directors, Sony Music Vision hosted our inaugural content showcase at NeueHouse on May 29 in Los Angeles. For 75-minutes, our executives and acclaimed filmmakers took the stage to highlight a diverse range of upcoming documentary projects with special first-look previews from upcoming releases about our artists including Barbra Streisand, LISA, Oasis, and Elvis. Throughout the night, attendees were treated to conversations from award-winning directors Frank Marshall, Sue Kim, and Baz Luhrmann speaking about their respective projects.
In discussing the upcoming Barbra Streisand multi-part documentary series, Frank Marshall shared his excitement having been given access to private archival footage from Streisand’s personal collection. He went on to say, “it’s what documentary filmmakers dream of – that moment when somebody says, you know, I have this box of eight millimeter film under my bed, in a shoebox…”
Following Marshall’s conversation, Sue Kim joined our moderator, Taylor Rooks, to speak about following Lisa for the past year. She said, “Following Lisa on this transformative and thrilling year has been a true honor and cinematic gift. There have been so many moments on her journey that I think will surprise people and give a glimpse into her world that no one has ever seen before. I’m excited for viewers to watch the film and witness this extraordinary moment in her life.”
The night concluded with a dynamic reveal of Baz Luhrmann’s EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, which will dive into the unseen and unheard performances, interviews, and recordings from Elvis himself. Luhrmann said, “We call it Epic Elvis Presley in concert, and he will sing and tell his story like never before. He will tell it. Because what was remarkable is that we found, audio of Elvis talking about his life.”
Stay tuned for more from the Sony Music Vision team, as we premiere multiple films at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival beginning June 4, 2025.
