Stop us if you’ve heard this before, a Spider-Man animate movie has been delayed. Beyond The Spider-Verse, the highly anticipated third film in Sony’s animated Spider-Man franchise has been pushed back a few months.

Variety reports that June 25, 2027 instead of the previously scheduled June 4, 2027. Apparently, the move is to cash in on the school-age views where will be on summer break.

Per Variety:

Studio insiders tell Variety the move was made to capitalize on school-aged moviegoers — 100% of schools in the U.S. will be on summer break by the new date, as opposed to only 65% on June 4. There’s hope the new date will also pay off in international markets.

So much for quick turnaround since the critically acclaimed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (which won an Oscar for best animated feature) was released in 2018 and it’s sequel, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, didn’t arrive until 2023. That actually places Spider Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse ahead of schedule—but don’t hold your breath.

The films follow the adventures of Miles Morales, Marvel’s Afro-Puerto Rican web-slinger created by renowned writer Brian Michael Bendis. Orginally part of Marvel’s Ultimate universe, the character was so popular he eventually became a part of the Marvel’s mainstream universe.

We could definitely use a live action version, though.
