On January 20, the seven member boy group KickFlip made their debut with the release of their first mini album “Flip it, Kick it.”

All members (Kyehoon, Amaru, Donghwa, Juwang, Minje, Keiju, and Donghyeon, have been trainees at JYP for more than three years. Leader Kyehoon, Amaru, Keiju, and Donghyeon became known through the SBS TV audition program Loud that aired in 2021. In particular, Kyehoon finally achieved his dream of debuting  after a whopping 10 years of training.

The team name ‘Kickflip’ refers to a difficult technique of spinning the board 360 degrees with the tip of the foot. It contains the bold ambition to be unconstrained by existing methods and to perform new activities, like turning the board once and moving forward.

The album was introduced by the leader Kyehoon,

Hello. This is KickFlip’s Kye-hoon.

KickFlip’s first album “Flip it, Kick it!” was intended to contain music that could express and explain the identity of our members and team.I hope you can feel the free atmosphere of doing what needs to be done and playing when it’s time to play, and the will to go our own way no matter what others say. All six tracks sing about the passion for the future, but each one has a different atmosphere. Since this is a work that the seven members have happily prepared together, I hope you will listen to it with excitement and enjoyment.

Meanwhile, the title track ‘Mama Said’ ‘Mama Said is an energetic song that symbolizes KickFlip itself. It humorously expresses the message of  “I don’t care about the obvious nagging and I’ll go my own way.” It features lyrics that cheerfully, refreshingly, and pleasantly accept nagging that you don’t want to hear. And thankfully, I participated in writing the lyrics, so I hope many people will sympathize and enjoy it.

Meanwhile Kickflip have kicked off their promotions such as weekly music shows and more. A showcase was held to celebrate the debut. They talked about advice they received from their seniors. Joowang said;

Many seniors, including Young K, gave me a lot of advice. Stray Kids’ Changbin and I.N seniors advised me, ‘For a team to last long, teamwork must be good. Even if there is a fight, we must fight with the mindset of reconciliation. That’s how the team can last long.
