It was previously reported that former MADEIN member Gaeun accused the CEO of 143 Entertainment of sexual assault, an allegation the CEO denied. Shortly afterward, Gaeun left the group and the company, citing “personal circumstances,” while the company continued to refute the claims.

Reviewing the details of the case and the company’s statements, their explanation only reinforced the impression that, at the very least, something deeply unethical and inappropriate occurred regarding power dynamics. That’s where things were left initially.

More concerns have since been brought up such as Sakamoto Mashiro who appeared publicly with concerning injuries to her arms, raising significant worry among fans. Efforts to reach the company for clarification have gone unanswered, deepening concerns for her safety.

Additionally on December 28, The Hanbit Media Labor Rights Center reported that staff members of 143 Entertainment are facing wage arrears of over three months, with a defamation lawsuit filed instead of addressing these financial issues.

Despite the growing backlash, 143 Entertainment has attempted to move forward as if nothing happened. MADEIN recently announced an official fan club and teased a comeback for February. These developments have led fans to call for a boycott of the company, culminating in protest banners and trucks being sent on January 10 and 11.
