Nick Frost will “definitely” reunite with Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright for new project

Nick Frost has announced that he will “definitely” reunite with Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright for a new project.

In a new interview with The i Paper, the Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz star spoke about his friendship with his Cornetto Trilogy collaborators and teased the possible focus of their next film.

“Our films are about how male friendships evolve as men get older,” Frost said. “I think me and Simon [Pegg] and Edgar [Wright] will definitely do something else at some point. Even if we’re 60, it’s like, so how are these 60–year–old friends now? What’s their relationship like? And our audience will be 60 as well. We’ve all grown up together.”

Back in July last year, Pegg teased that the trio would be getting back together to make a fourth Cornetto film, saying: “It really is a question of when, not if.”

Elsewhere, Frost recently opened up his struggles with alcoholism while discussing his family’s history of addiction.

Speaking with The Daily Telegraph, the Star Wars: Skeleton Crew actor recalled how drinking problems affected his life. “My mum was an alcoholic so my dad had spent a lot of his life looking after her,” he said. “When my mum died my dad became free and it was like I had my best mate back and was happy again but five years later he got lung cancer. And nine months after that he was gone”.

He went on to say his grief manifested through anger. “I was angry with my mum for taking up so much of his life” he said. “And in between them, I lost my brother and sister and then my other brother died just after my dad died. It became just lots of admin. I didn’t deal with the grief at all. I never thought about how it was affecting me”.

That anger subsided when he encountered his own problem with alcoholism. “It took until my forties to really understand that (my parents) were just fallible people” he explained. “I used to think about my mum, ‘Why would you choose alcohol and death over your own child?’ I got to a point in my own life when I knew exactly how you could do that. That’s how I found a lot of forgiveness”.

Frost can currently be seen in the new horror comedy Get Away, streaming on Sky Cinema, while all eight episodes of Skeleton Crew are now available to watch on Disney+.
