Last week, Los Angeles began experiencing a total of five concurrent wildfires in several neighbourhoods that have forced the evacuation of over 180,000 residents – the latest tally, per CNN, sees 24 confirmed deaths while Associated Press reports 16 missing people.

Among one of the countless victims that have lost their homes to the wildfires is Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith, per his wife Nathalie on social media. She shared over the weekend: “We are safe. We have each other. We will start again. #malibustrong Thank-you for your support during these trying times.”

The update came days after Nathalie Smith shared a video of her family evacuating their home as she captured smoke over a hill near their home. In the video, she also asked Adrian to check on their elderly neighbour who was “refusing to leave”. In a later update, she confirmed that their neighbour was safe.

Many other stars have also been affected by the wildfires, with Paris Hilton recently opening up about watching her home burn down on television, while James Woods, Billy Crystal, Cary Elwes and Mark Hamill are among the other high-profile names to have been badly affected.

Many music recording spaces have also been destroyed by the fires, including Bob Clearmountain’s legendary Mix This! recording studio in Pacific Palisades. A benefit concert for the victims has been since announced. Dubbed FireAid, it will take place at LA’s Intuit Dome on January 30, with proceeds going to the rebuild program and to displaced families. No line-up has currently been announced.

Elsewhere, Charli XCX urged brands who send her clothing to instead donate it to those affected by the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires.
