The pop singer shot to massive mainstream success last summer following the release of her sixth studio album ‘Brat‘, resulting in successful arena tours, including a co-headlining tour with Troye Sivan, as well as several campaigns for the likes of H&M, Kim Kardashian’s line Skims, Acne Studios, Converse and more.

The ‘Von Dutch‘ singer is now hoping to use her fashion credentials to support those affected by the LA wildfires that broke out on January 7. The unprecedented disaster has now claimed the lives of 16 people to date, with nearly 180,000 residents having evacuated their homes and over 13,400 structures sustaining damages.

“As a person in the public eye i am often being sent clothes and other things by brands wanting to gift me something,” XCX wrote on her Instagram Stories yesterday (January 11).

She continued to say that while it was “very kind and sweet” to be sent free clothing, she wanted to “encourage brands to give to people who really truly need it”, encouraging those reading to “please donate to those who have been tragically affected by these horrific LA fires”.

In a follow-up post, she shared details of a clothing drive she would be donating to, organised by stylist Lana Jay Lackey. She again urged brands to contribute unworn items to support families who had lost their homes to the blaze.

Many public figures have been affected, with Paris Hilton recently opening up about watching her home burn down on television, while James Woods, Billy Crystal, Cary Elwes and Mark Hamill are among the other high-profile names to have been badly affected.

Heroes actor Milo Ventimiglia choked up during a live interview while discussing watching his own house burn down, while a fundraiser for DIIV frontman Zachary Cole Smith was launched after his house succumbed to the firesMel Gibson‘s house was another one to be destroyed, with the actor revealing that it burned down while he was recording his appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast.

Many music recording spaces have also been destroyed by the fires, including Bob Clearmountain’s legendary Mix This! recording studio in Pacific Palisades.

A benefit concert for the victims has been announced. Dubbed FireAid, it will take place at LA’s Intuit Dome on January 30, with proceeds going to the rebuild program and to displaced families. No line-up has currently been announced.
