Tory Lanez is still finding ways to make himself look like a victim after being found guilty in the shooting of Hip-Hop superstar Megan Thee Stallion.
In court documents obtained by PEOPLE Magazine, Canadian Yosemite Sam, aka Tory Lanez, is now accusing Megan Thee Stallion of missing the legal system against him following her seeking a temporary restraining order against him.
According to the documents, the rapper/singer born DaystaPeterson filed a motion on Tuesday, December 24, in response to the Grammy Award-winning artist’s request for a temporary restraining order she filed earlier this month.
Per PEOPLE:
The documents claim that through her counsel, Megan (whose real name is Megan Pete), 29, “has improperly decided to use the Los Angeles County civil court to file a frivolous request for civil harassment restraining order against Daystar Peterson, who has had zero direct contact with Ms. Pete.”
“When celebrity with millions of dollars and backed by large corporation disagrees with free speech or opinions, they weaponize the justice system, failing to understand that they are public figures, who voluntarily catapulted themselves into the limelight, unable to deal with the controversy and public opinions,” the documents read in part.
Lanez’s complaint also references California Code of Civil Procedure S. 527.8, which “prohibits courts from issuing restraining orders that restrict constitutionally protected speech. The statute ensures restraining orders.”
His complaint goes on to insinuate that the Houston rapper is resorting to using the legal system instead of “debating” the commentary by adding, “Rather than rebut the commentary or debate the issues raised by Defendant’s comments so people can make up their own minds, Plaintiff has succumbed to the current trend of using the legal system in an attempt to cancel those opinions she disagrees with.”
Megan Thee Stallion’s Attorney Claps Back At Tory Lanez’s Claims
In response to Lanez’s claims, Megan Thee Stallion’s attorney, Mari Henderson, called the “Say It” crafter’s response to the temporary restraining order “delusional.”
“It is delusional that a felon convicted of a violent crime for shooting a victim, and then further harassing her, is even contesting a request for a protective order, and we are confident the court will act to protect the victim,” Henderson’s statement to PEOPLE reads.
Thee Stallion is currently accusing Lanez of harassing her from prison by enlisting the help of bloggers like Milagro Gramz, claiming that Gramz, real name Milagro Elizabeth Cooper, was enlisted by Lanez to “bully, harass and further victimize” her.
“Despite being sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Ms. Pete, Mr. Peterson continues to subject her to repeated trauma and revictimization,” Thee Stallion’s request reads. “The filing noted that the “continued harassment” has caused Megan “severe emotional distress and reputational harm.”
Tory Lanez Feels The Restraining Order Is Unnecessary
Lanez feels a temporary restraining order is unnecessary because “He does not have possession of a firearm and is unable to leave his current residence. Therefore, the incident alleged (which occurred 4.5 years ago) is no longer any form of current or future threat to the person seeking protection. There has been no direct contact of any kind from Lanez to Megan.”
Tory Lanez is expected back in court on January 9 for a hearing regarding the restraining order.
