The shows by the famous Puerto Rican duo Jowell y Randy this weekend at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum of Puerto Rico with the “3D” concert series, highlighted their position as one of the most powerful duos in the local and international music scene. The shows on Friday, December 20, and Saturday, December 21, wrapped up the six shows in total that began last week with performances on the 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th.
With their victory, the duo added a new chapter to their legendary career by performing to a full house every night and gathering 80,000 fans at the prestigious venue. Furthermore, with a million-dollar investment, the duo made history by becoming the first to integrate 3D technology in a concert at the iconic venue.
“Los Más Sueltos” paid tribute to their 24-year musical career that has transcended generations, which was evident with the diverse audience that attended each one of their shows.
The versatility of Jowell y Randy was solidified by their use of striking elements of scenery, exemplifying their idea to deliver an extraordinary visual journey. The integration of 3D technology and its masterfully crafted graphics demonstrated their commitment to bringing their fans something new and fresh.
Furthermore, the notable friendliness of the duo and their surprising direct interactions with the crowd reflected their interest in connecting with their fans beyond just singing and performing on stage.
Under the production of Move Concerts and Noah Assad Presents, for three hours Jowell and Randy revisited their solid trajectory that has made them legends in the Latin urban scene. The thematic sequence was divided into five segments: Science Fiction, Old West, “Cartoons”, Horror, and Christmas, which allowed them to artfully navigate through their selection of hits. The multiple costume changes added to their goal of breaking away from being another predictable show.
Their varied repertoire covered over 60 songs; all sang along to by the audience from beginning to end. The musical tour struck the perfect balance between the classics of their beginnings, those that stoked nostalgia, and new songs from recent albums like “Viva La Musik” and “Mazorkeo.com”, which they released to great success this year.
From the beginning, Jowell y Randy transformed the iconic venue into a nightclub with their characteristic energetic performances and their reputation as leaders of the “perreo”. “Poco Loca”, “ID”, “Las Nenas Lindas”, “Salgo Pa’ La Calle”, “Tóxico”, “Guayoteo”, “No Te Veo”, “Shorty”, “Hey Mister”, “Gárgola”, and “Dale Pal Piso” were some of those songs that stirred euphoria among the audience.
“We are very happy. We can sing anywhere in the world, but singing in Puerto Rico is something else. It is the most special for us to perform here. This is for you,” Randy expressed in one of messages to fans.
“Six nominations for the Billboard Awards, one nomination for the Latin Grammys and we didn’t win anything, but for us the best award is to fill the ‘Choliseo’ with all of you. We are tearing up the stage. Thank you for your love and being part of this,” Jowell said.
Top artists formed their select group of special guests. Bad Bunny, Arcángel, Tito “El Bambino”, De La Ghetto, Young Miko, Zion, Miky Woodz, and Dei V joined “Los Más Sueltos” in creating unforgettable moments for the sold-out crowds.
“Anaranjado”, “X100”, “Bonita”, “Ese Mahón” and “Siente el Boom” added to the dozens of songs with which the duo made the venue move. “Safaera” was one of the many that made it onto the list of favorites for the excited crowd, who did not stop dancing.
“How satisfying this is, Puerto Rico! This is a dream come true. We have spent many years wanting to achieve this,” said Randy after embracing his friend and musical partner, Jowell, in a hug while saying goodbye to the audience. “Things have always been a little slow for us, but it doesn’t matter because everyone runs different races at their own pace. Thank you very much for being here,” he concluded.
With the “3D” shows, Jowell y Randy demonstrated why they remain with an undeniable force in their Latin urban genre with how they continue to draw massive crowds and with their commitment to win over different generations of fans.
