Helldivers 2 has decided to give away a planned collaboration with Killzone after backlash to the initial offering.

Inspired by first-person shooter Killzone, which was released in 2004 and spawned three sequels, the latest offering for Helldivers 2 players included weapons, skins and other cosmetic items. However, there was backlash to the cost of the collab. The StA-52 Assault Rifle costs 615 super credits (Helldivers 2’s in-game currency) with bundles of 2100 available to buy for £19.99.
Since it launched, Helldivers 2 has offered players paid “War Bond” bundles that include multiple weapons, armour sets and cosmetics for around £7.99, so some fans were obviously angry about the much-more expensive Killzone collab.

Addressing the backlash on Discord, Helldivers 2 boss Shams Jorjani wrote (via VG247): “Firstly – this is our first collaboration so we’ll be figuring it out as we go along. Let us know what you’d like to see in the future. Secondly it’s optional – the more of this we sell – the more illuminate type stuff we can keep dropping for free. If we monetise optional stuff we can cram in more fun core stuff.”
However it’s now been confirmed Helldivers 2 will be making it up to players with some freebies. “Some of you are not happy with the prices of the items and we will revisit this,” reads a statement from Helldivers 2 developers. “Because of all this, in partnership with our friends at Guerrilla (and as we’re in the season of holiday cheer), we’ve decided to offer a gift to all players.”
Seasons greetings, Helldivers!
As Helldivers x Killzone was our first crossover offering, we’ve been listening to the response, and the feedback we’ve received from our community surveys.

“We are gifting to everyone the planned second set of the Helldivers x Killzone collaboration items today, free of charge. The distribution of those items will begin shortly, in two waves.” However the first Killzone pack is still being sold for full price.
In other news, Pokémon cards worth more than £250,000 have been stolen from a UK-based grading company in a “targeted attack”.
