A new theory about updated trademarks has a number of Grand Theft Auto 6 fans convinced a new trailer will arrive before Christmas.

Grand Theft Auto 6 was officially confirmed last December with a 90-second trailer that introduced players to new protagonists Lucia and her partner Jason. Their story is reported to take heavy influence from notorious outlaws Bonnie & Clyde and GTA 6 will return players to the Miami-inspired Vice City for the action.
The trailer broke viewing records shortly after it was released but a second has yet to be shared, despite Grand Theft Auto 6 being set to launch at some point next year.
However a new theory has many fans convinced an update is imminent. Taking to Reddit, user MysteriousPractice85 shared a post that explained how Rockstar always updates the copyright for its logo shortly before a second trailer for a new game is released.
“They did it with Red Dead Redemption 2, 12 days before releasing trailer two. Same with GTA 5. Guess what Rockstar started AGAIN doing 7 days ago? Copyrighting the logo in multiple countries,” they explained. “I am very convinced a second trailer [for Grand Theft Auto 6] is coming very soon.”
“I find this theory quite believable. And of all of them, it’s the most sensible one I’ve seen here,” reads the top-rated comment on the thread. “This is the most believable theory so far,” said another. “I trust you,” wrote a third.
Some people aren’t so sure though with one fan investigating the copyright filings. Turns out, the process was reportedly started by Rockstar back in December 2023 for the UK and the US, with the same paperwork submitted in Australia, Canada, Chile, Germany, Japan and France in March 2024. “I don’t think there’s any credence to this particular theory either. Perhaps they might release something after all of their filings are registered,” wrote Gold_Lengthiness3061.
Earlier this month, it was suggested a number of other games haven’t announced a release date in case it clashes with Grand Theft Auto 6, which still doesn’t have a firm launch window. It’s also been suggested that the game will be “less crude” towards minorities.
In other news, a Borderlands 4 writer has said the upcoming game will have fewer fart jokes than previous entries in the franchise.
