The singer and actress appeared in the 2017 revival series as Ella – a woman with a terrible rash at the Roadhouse bar.
Speaking in a new interview with IndieWire, Ferreira recalled: “It was funny, because you get the script maybe the day before. Like, I knew that I was doing Twin Peaks, but I didn’t know what I was going to do. Literally the day before when I read it, I really didn’t know what I was going to do.
“But when I was doing it, it suddenly made sense when he [David Lynch] was directing me,” she continued. “And then after, right after, it was like being out of your body or something. I feel like everyone that works with him feels very connected to him and inspired by him. I’ve noticed that anytime anyone talks about working with him. It’s such a special, once in a lifetime experience, and it was literally my dream, and I couldn’t believe that I was in Twin Peaks, it was such a big deal for me.”
Ferreira also said she wasn’t expecting to be called up for the role.
She added: “It was very full circle. I’ve worked with David and for his foundation and stuff before, but only musically. After [my album] ‘Night Time, My Time,’ it’s very surreal.
“I got to wear the ring, which was pretty cool. It’s all in the details. As someone that’s so inspired by all of his work and seeing how it all connects, to be a part of that world in some way is really well, like, if I’ve ever had a goal, it happened.”
Meanwhile, Lynch recently shared an update on his emphysema diagnosis, revealing he now requires supplemental oxygen to walk.
The director – who picked up smoking at eight-years-old – was diagnosed with emphysema in 2020. Since then, he’s been rendered homebound as the condition has massively impacted his immune system.
He told PEOPLE magazine: “I have a positive attitude focused on the body healing itself. It’s tough living with emphysema. I can hardly walk across a room. It’s like you’re walking around with a plastic bag around your head.”
Lynch previously hinted at a return to the Twin Peaks series, telling fans at a book signing in 2018 that the story “is calling, but there are a lot of disturbances”.
