Netflix was responsible for the Wednesday float, which saw Addams serving her brother Pugsley’s head on a platter.

Additionally, there was also an army of Wednesday lookalikes and a special performance of The Rolling Stones‘ ‘Paint It Black’ by Bishop Briggs at the Macy’s Parade accompanying the float.

In season one of Wednesday, Jenna Ortega‘s character shows her contempt for the holiday and its history at the Pilgrim World tourist attraction.

Speaking in German, she tells visitors: “Enjoy your ‘authentic’ pilgrim fudge made with cacao beans, procured by the oppressed indigenous people of the Amazon. All proceeds go to uphold this pathetic whitewashing of American history.”

Other guests at the parade included actresses Alison Brie, Idina Menzel and rapper T-Pain.

Meanwhile, Wednesday recently added a major star to its cast for season two: Lady Gaga.

It is currently unknown what role Gaga will play and just how extensive her role in season two will be.

Her addition to the ranks comes after Ortega in early 2023 said that she would “love” for Gaga to join the show and suggested that Netflix would likely get behind the idea too.

She said of Gaga’s hypothetical role at the time: “I think Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday had this weird mentor relationship or kind of understood each other in a certain way, so, if Lady Gaga were to be a part, I think it would have to be two monsters that understand each other.”

Ortega is currently in the middle of shooting the second season of the hit Netflix series, with production of the show having relocated from Romania, where the first season was shot. Season two has an expected release date of 2025.

The first season of Wednesday scored a four-star review with Alex Flood writing for NME: “Wednesday ends up a rare spin-off success story. It’s creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky – and an absolute treat.”
