Cher has revealed that her next studio album is likely to be her last.
The legendary singer released her first Christmas record, titled ‘Christmas’, in October 2023. It was her first album to feature original music by Cher in 10 years, following 2013’s ‘Closer To The Truth’.

In 2018, the star shared her ABBA covers LP ‘Dancing Queen’ – which NME called “joyously camp – and also surprisingly poignant” in a four-star review.
During a recent conversation at London’s Lyceum Theatre in support of Cher: The Memoir, Part One (released November 19), the singer shared some details about her upcoming full-length album.
“This is probably my last album that I’m gonna do,” she explained (via The Sun), adding that she was “really excited” about the project.
“They are great songs and I’m just really excited that I’m doing it,” Cher continued. “I’m really excited to be doing anything now.”
The 78-year-old – who released her debut solo album ‘All I Really Want To Do’ in 1965 – then reflected on her age and lengthy career in music.
“I’m older than dirt now, OK?” she joked. “I’m the oldest person I meet in almost every room unless I’m in an old folks’ home. I keep having to tell these [younger] girls like, ‘Get over yourself, get out there. You’ve got your whole life ahead of you’.”

Cher went on: “I don’t care if you’re 50. I’d give anything to be 60 again. I was a fucking hottie! It’s weird too because I know I’m older, but I don’t know how to feel it. I don’t know how to feel any different than the way I’ve always felt.”
Cher is currently in a relationship with 38-year-old artist and producer Alexander “A.E.” Edwards, and said during her recent London conversation that she “like[s] hanging with younger people, not just men”.
“I like young people because a lot of my friends don’t want to have that much fun. They can just go off and be old fogies,” she added.
In early 2023, Cher revealed that was making two new albums with Edwards in the UK. He is credited as a producer on last year’s ‘Christmas’, so it is likely that he also contributed to the singer’s next – and possibly final – record.
“Some of the songs Alexander gave me, so I’m pretty excited about that,” she explained at the time. “He’s a producer and a writer and he does everything, so I’m happy about that. I think like any artist, when you’ve got something good, you’re excited.”
‘Christmas’ marked Cher’s 27th full-length solo album, and contained the single ‘DJ Play A Christmas Song’.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Cher was “in talks” for the Legend Slot at Glastonbury 2025. However, it was confirmed yesterday (November 26) that Rod Stewart would be playing the coveted Sunday teatime set next summer.
The ‘Believe’ singer said in late 2023 that she would “like to” play at the iconic festival one day.
Last month, Cher was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and performed live on stage with Dua Lipa at the ceremony.
A synopsis for Cher’s new book reads: “With her trademark honesty and humour, Cher: The Memoir traces how this diamond in the rough succeeded with no plan and little confidence to become the trailblazing superstar the world has been unable to ignore for more than half a century.”
Last year, the singer revealed that she was working on her memoir again after “totally chickening out” on the venture in the past.
