Rookie K-pop girl group MEOVV have made their first comeback with the double-single ‘Toxic’ and ‘Body’.
Described in a press release as a song that “captures the inescapable feeling of being caught in an emotional whirlwind”, ‘Toxic’ was notably co-written by MEOVV members Gawon and Narin. The track marks their first-ever song-writing credits. K-pop producer Teddy also participated in writing both ‘Toxic’ and ‘Body’.
In the music video for ‘Toxic’ track, the girl group reflect on past memories. “Together, we’re so toxic / But your love is something I can’t lose / They don’t know you like I do / Together, we’re so toxic / But my life is nothing without you / Yeah, I know you feel it too,” they sing in the chorus.
MEOVV, which comprises members Sooin, Gawon, Anna, Narin and Ella, debuted in September this year with their first digital single ‘Meow’ under The Black Label. The agency currently houses artists like Big Bang’s Taeyang, Somi and BLACKPINK vocalist Rosé.
In related news, Rosé has announced the release date of the next single off her upcoming debut album ‘rosie’. Titled ‘Number One Girl’, the new single arrives this Friday (November 22) at Midnight ET.
Elsewhere in K-pop, girl group TWICE have unveiled a snippet of their upcoming single ‘Strategy’ featuring American rapper Megan Thee Stallion. Due out this December, the track will lead the group’s 14th mini-album of the same name.
