The release date for Mickey 17 starring Robert Pattinson has been pushed back a couple of months – find out more about the film’s new release window below.
Per a Variety report, the upcoming Bong Joon-ho-directed sci-fi black comedy film is being delayed by three months, moving from its January 31 release to April 18, 2025.
The film – which is being distributed by Warner Bros. – will now be available for screening in IMAX during its April run, according to a statement from a spokesperson to Variety: “When the April 18 date became available, we quickly moved to secure it for Mickey 17. We’re thrilled with the new date, and very happy the film will be available to audiences in IMAX.”

The change in schedule stems from the Michael Jackson biopic Michael being delayed from the April 18 slot to October 3, which was announced earlier this week.
The first full trailer for Mickey 17 arrived in September, and offered a look at various clones of Robert Pattinson’s Mickey dying during an expedition to explore an ice planet. The film also stars Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo, Holliday Grainger and more.
Mickey 17 will mark Joon-ho’s first film effort since 2019’s universally lauded Parasite, which took home Best Picture at the Academy Awards the following year. Parasite also went on to become the highest-grossing Korean film in history.
The film – based on the 2022 novel Mickey7 – was first announced in 2022, with a short teaser being released that same year. The film was due for release this year, but was delayed indefinitely due to last year’s actors’ and writers’ strike before landing it’s now-postponed January 2025 release date.

Mickey 17 will now premiere in cinemas on April 18, 2025.
In a glowing five-star review of Parasite, Rhian Daly wrote for NME: “Part of the brilliance of Parasite is that, while this is an ‘us vs them’ story, it doesn’t pick a side. Instead, Bong puts the flaws of both families on full display – each is as parasitical as the other, the Kims burrowing their way into the Parks’ house under false pretences and the Parks subtly exploiting the Kims while making disparaging comments about them that give themselves a sense of superiority.”
