Biffy Clyro completed their London Shepherds Bush Empire residency by playing their cult favourite third album ‘Infinity Land’ in full alongside a set of other hits and deep cuts last night (Tuesday October 22). Check out photos, footage and the setlist below.
The show was the third and final of the band’s retrospective ‘A Celebration Of Beginnings’ run in the capital, after the previous nights saw them pay tribute to their debut album ‘Blackened Sky‘ and follow-up ‘The Vertigo Of Bliss‘. The Scottish rock veterans shall now do the same with a three-night run in Glasgow.
“This has been such a weird, wonderful week,” frontman Simon Neil told the crowd after an explosive opening of ‘Glitter And Trauma’ and ‘Strung To Your Ribcage’ – the latter being played live for the first time in a decade.

It was a night of big returns for a number of ‘Infinity Land’ album tracks, with ‘Got Wrong’, ‘The Atrocity’, ‘There’s No Such Man as Crasp’, ‘The Weapons Are Concealed’, ‘Pause It and Turn It Up’ and ‘Tradition Feed’ having not been performed live since the ’00s, while others last made appearances between 2014 and 2017.
After an ecstatic reaction to ‘Wave Upon Wave Upon Wave’, Neil paraphrased his lyrics and responded to the crowd: “Well, I fucking believe in magic now.”
After delivering the album in its entirety, the trio – joined throughout the show by regular live member and Neil’s Empire State Bastard bandmate, Mike Vennart, formerly of Oceansize – the band tore into a second of hits, fan favourites and deep cuts.
This included ‘Puzzle’ launch single ‘Semi-Mental’ being aired for the first time since 2016, as well ‘Woo Woo’, ‘Accident Without Emergency’, ‘Sunrise’, ‘Bonanzoid Deathgrip’ (described as “the opposite” of tender stripped-back predecessor ‘Adored’), ‘Whorses’ and ‘The Thaw’ all making rare appearances in the set after up to a decade in some instances.
The second set ended with the feral closing of ‘Slurpy Slurpy Sleep Sleep’ – a highlight from 2021 album ‘The Myth Of The Happily Ever After‘ – before closing with the emotional hit singles ‘Machines’ and ‘Many Of Horror’.

Biffy Clyro’s ninth and most recent studio album, ‘The Myth Of The Happily Ever After’, arrived in 2021. When confirming the current ‘Celebration Of Beginnings’ dates in March, the band teased that “Biffy X” would follow – suggesting that news of their 10th album was on the horizon.
Last week, it was announced that the group would be reissuing their first three LPs on limited edition vinyl.
In recent years, Neil has been busy with his long-mooted grindcore side-project Empire State Bastard with Oceansize‘s Mike Vennart, Slayer‘s Dave Lombardo and Bitch Falcon‘s Naomi Macleod – releasing debut album ‘Rivers Of Heresy’ last year.
Speaking to NME in 2021, frontman Neil explained of Biffy Clyro’s latest album: “There are some songs where I’m singing about forgiveness, some are about hope for the future, and on others I’m being a total nihilist and a misanthrope – thinking, ‘We’re the bacteria eating up the world’.
“I wasn’t afraid of that. No one can process the impact that the last year has had on us mentally, physically and on our behaviours. It’ll be another five or 10 years before we realise that.”
