Responding to a fan’s question about who he would like to play himself in a biopic created about the band in the latest issue of Metal Hammer, the thrash metal legend responded with the former Fast & Furious stars.

“The only one that loosely fits the description [to play me] is Vin Diesel,” King explained.  “If you go down that road you might also say The Rock, but I’m not nearly that giant! That would be awesome, though – I’ll say The Rock, because I like a lot of the stuff he’s in.”

Elsewhere, the ‘Angel Of Death’ hitmakers confirmed their unlikely return earlier this year, announcing that they would be headlining Riot Fest in Chicago, Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky, and a third and final show at Aftershock Festival.

Their show at Riot Fest marked the thrash metal legends’ first live gig in nearly five years since the end of their lengthy farewell world tour. The group played a string of favourites at the Chicago fest including ‘Raining Blood’, ‘Angel Of Death’ and ‘South Of Heaven’ throughout their 20-song headlining set.

However, their second scheduled show headlining Kentucky’s Louder Than Life Festival had to be cancelled due to issues with the weather. The entire second day of the event had to be canned for safety reasons following the after-effects of Hurricane Helene, one of the most severe storms to ever hit the United States.

As for the band’s future plans, guitarist Kerry King has insisted that Slayer “will never tour again”. Following the reunion shows announcement, he also told Classic Rock History: “Don’t get used to this being a yearly event.”

In other news, Slayer recently announced the launch of their new digital museum, the Slaytanic Verses.

The museum serves as a digital archive and museum chronicling the band’s history, from their inception in 1981 until the current day.
