Red Dead Redemption was originally released in 2010, while a port was made available for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation users last year. Now developers Rockstar has confirmed the game will be available for PC gamers. “For the first time in its storied legacy, John Marston’s beloved journey can be experienced on PC in stunning, new detail,” reads an announcement.

The upgraded version of the game will launch with a number of PC-specific enhancements to improve performance and graphics, however multiplayer won’t be available.

In Red Dead Redemption, players will get to “experience the story of former outlaw John Marston as he tracks down the last remaining members of the notorious Van der Linde Gang”. The game inspired the celebrated sequel Red Dead Redemption 2, though the events of the original game actually take after RDR2.

The PC launch will also include the ”iconic zombie-horror” Undead Nightmare expansion. “When former outlaw John Marston wakes up at his farmhouse, he finds a world gone insane: overnight, deranged hordes have overrun the towns and outposts of the American frontier. In a desperate attempt to save his family, Marston must traverse a world torn apart by chaos and disorder, using every skill he has to survive long enough to find a cure.”

Rumours about a PC version of Red Dead Redemption have been circulating all year but the game will finally launch October 29 for PC, with pre-order details set to be confirmed soon.

Speaking to NME in 2022, Bastille’s Dan Smith said he’d love to soundtrack Red Dead Redemption 3, though Rockstar are probably preoccupied with getting Grand Theft Auto 6 ready for release. The game is currently due to launch at some point next year.

In other news, Persona developer Atlus has just released new title Metaphor: ReFantazio and it’s quickly become one of the best-reviewed games of 2024.
