Can you tell us the inspiration behind “Let Loose” and how the idea for the song came about?
We were inspired by the idea of making a call and response sort of song, where the story and meaning progresses throughout the song. In the song, we really dig into those feelings we all have, but don’t always know how to express. It’s about that moment when you feel stuck in your head, tangled in your own thoughts, and you finally start to understand how to let go. The song speaks on what it’s like to push through the things holding you back—the fears, the doubts—and embrace new challenges, even when it feels tough. It’s about not giving in, learning to loosen the grip of those mental blocks, and letting yourself truly be free.
The song emphasizes unlocking feelings and getting unstuck mentally—how do you personally relate to these themes? What was the collaboration process like with Sage Sam, and how did the two of you merge your styles for this track?
I personally hugely relate to this song, in the sense that being in touch with your emotions and knowing how to freely express them is something that I struggled with throughout my teenage years. Sage and I had a conversation about what we wanted to write the song about, and the concept of breaking free from inner confusion was a thought that kept being brought to the table. We began to dive into this theme, and an array of lyrics and thoughts started to come about. From here, we found a way to incorporate both of our styles into a song that sounded in touch with both of our likings. This consisted of an upbeat song with a laid back beat and personable lyrics.
“Let Loose” is a pop EDM track—what drew you to this genre, and how do you see it reflecting your musical identity?
We both love the way EDM feels, as it’s upbeat yet chill, while also containing a story that can be taken to heart in a variety of ways. I feel like this genre both fits well with our voices, so I feel like this is why we’re drawn to it.
Were there any particular challenges in creating this single that pushed you as an artist?
The biggest challenge of this song was creating the right bridge, that would create a contrast in the song while also keeping the same vibe. After a while of messing around with it, we found a bridge that added a little bit of spice to the song, while keeping it a match with the overall style.
Can you describe the moment you realized “Let Loose” was ready to be shared with the world?
The moment I knew this song was ready for the world, was when I listened to it in my car after the final writing session. I was smiling from start to finish, and it was such a satisfying feeling to hear our work come together. At that moment, I had no more critiques, and I knew it was ready.
