Epic Games has confirmed Laufey will be headlining Fortnite Festival season 14, taking over from last season’s headliner Chappell Roan.

The news was revealed over the weekend via a short playful clip that saw Laufey trying on a number of outfits with the help of Fortnite mascot Peely. “Needs back bling,” the giant banana commented after one outfit was revealed, while another was giving “main character energy”.

The Laufey X Fortnite collaboration will go live later this week (April 16). The exact details of the crossover haven’t been revealed yet but typically, Fortnite Festival headliners get a number of different skins as well as themed weapons, accessories and emotes. A selection of their songs are also added to Fortnite Festival.

Laufey released their third album ‘A Matter Of Time’ last year and a deluxe ‘The Final Hour’ edition arrived on streaming services on Friday (April 10) shortly before the singer made her Coachella debut.

A four-star NME review said: “‘Bewitched’s global breakthrough may have brought more chaos to her door, but here, she juggles it beautifully, letting us peek behind the curtain while maintaining her poise throughout. For better or worse, that circus won’t end with ‘A Matter Of Time’ – an album that should only accelerate Laufey’s already-dizzying trajectory.”

Previous Festival headliner Chappell Roan publicly asked Fortnite creators to put her in the game, which has inspired fellow pop star Madison Beer and Olympic skating icon Alysa Liu to request their own Fortnite skins. Players recently got a new Toy Story collaboration featuring Buzz Lightyear, Emperor Zurg and the adorable three-eyed alien – but some fans are still wondering where Woody is.

Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran has been praised for turning down a Fortnite collaboration because he isn’t a fan of the battle royale game.

In other news, Crimson Desert is set to get easier as a series of new updates go live over the next few month.
