Misch has just released his second studio album ‘Full Circle‘ last Friday (March 27) – his first new music since 2020 collaborative record ‘What Kinda Music’ with Yussef Dayes.

To celebrate, he stepped on stage for the first of his two comeback shows at KOKO yesterday (Wednesday April 1), bringing on a number of guests. Alt-R&B singer Jordan Rakei joined Misch to play their collaboration ‘Wake Up This Day’, which appeared on Misch’s 2015 album ‘Beat Tape 2’.

Then, South London rapper Loyle Carner took to the stage to perform ‘Damselfly’ with the musician. He appeared surprised at the roar from the crowd at his arrival, proclaiming: “Oh, shit!”. The song appeared on Carner’s breakout 2017 debut album ‘Yesterday’s Gone‘, and remains one of their biggest hits today.

Misch has previously expressed interest in creating a “joint tape” together, with him saying of Carner to NME: “I first heard Loyle Carner on SoundCloud in 2014. I could tell he was from south London and his stuff blew my mind”.

Fans have praised Misch’s return to the stage, with one user writing: “So great to see Tom back & performing his new music, he sounds so good”. Meanwhile, another user commented: “Tom Misch surprising us with Loyle Carner at KOKO is HEALING for my teenage self”.

We spoke to Misch around the release of ‘Full Circle’, where the musician shared his journey recovering from burnout.

He recently opened up to fans on “taking a step back” from music, writing: “The intensity of it all caught up with me and came at a cost to my mental health”.

Misch went on to add that “taking some time away” had “definitely been needed and very formative” for him, in “exploring who I am outside of this project and trying all sorts of new things”.

Speaking to NME, Misch elaborated: “I needed to give it space and take the pressure off”. “A lot of space opens up a lot of questions and evaluation about who you are or what kind of life you want to live. That’s really scary and can be quite uncomfortable. There’s a lot of value if you can do that, but we’re often just so busy in some sort of rat race or building something that we don’t have time to stop.

“I’m fortunate enough that I’ve had success, which allowed me to really stop and just work out what I want to do.”
