Created by indie game developers Edmund McMillen (The Binding Of Isaac, Super Meat Boy) and Tyler Glaiel (Closure, The End Is Nigh), Mewgenics is a roguelike tactical strategy game about cats.
The game launched last month and sold more than 250,000 copies in its first 12 hours, recouping it’s entire development budget. By the end of its first week, Mewgenics had sold more than a million copies. “So far, this is beating expectations by quite a lot,” Glail told IGN.
A month later, Mewgenics still has a “very positive” user review score on Steam, with players praising the intricate gameplay loops, the humour and the game’s excellent soundtrack by Ridiculon. And now that soundtrack is getting a vinyl release.

Available as either a 1LP or 3LP set, the Mewgenics vinyl features a “comprehensive collection” of main album tracks alongside a “painstakingly-curated selection” of the most iconic radio tunes. A number of limited-edition coloured and liquid-filled variants are available too, via the Lost In Cult store.
“Prepare to immerse yourself in the unforgettable world of Mewgenics with this purr-fectly pressed 3xLP vinyl soundtrack, showcasing the full brilliance of Ridiculon’s Matthias Bossi and Jon Evans,” reads the product listing. “The OST features a genre-defying blend of dark cabaret, jazz, rockabilly, proto-punk, space-age lounge music, and much more to commemorate the cat’s meow of indie releases this year.”
All the Mewgenics vinyl comes with brand new artwork from official Mewgenics artist Sony-Shock alongside linear notes from composers Matthias Bossi and Jon Evans. The vinyl is available to pre-order now, ahead of a late 2026 release. The soundtrack is also available to stream.
In other news, one Buffy The Vampire Slayer fan has created a video game to try and save the cancelled New Sunnydale reboot.
