Jason Momoa and his family have been evacuated from the North Shore area of O’ahu amid floods in Hawaii.
The U.S. state has recently been hit by a severe storm, with flooding in areas such as the island of O’ahu among the worst in 20 years, according to authorities.
Speaking in his Instagram Stories, Dune star Momoa confirmed that he is among the many who have been forced to flee due to the disaster.
“I got my family with me,” he said (via TMZ). “We got out of the North Shore, a lot of people have been asking. Our power went off. We’re safe for now, but there’s a lot of people who weren’t, so we’re sending all our love.”
He added: “The North Shore is pretty gnarly right now. So just love, and hopefully everyone’s safe and getting out. All my love. Stay safe out there.”
Momoa also cancelled a scheduled event over the weekend, and has been posting about the storm in recent days.
“Aloha everyone, These past weeks have been heavy,” he wrote in one post last week, noting that “the storms, the flooding, the constant rain across Oʻahu have affected so many of our people especially those already facing hardship” while also acknowledging “families displaced, communities struggling, and our unhoused neighbours hit the hardest”.
He added: “If you’re out there and able to help in any way no matter how big or small please do. Check in on your neighborus. Give what you can. Spread aloha. Aloha.”
Since the storms hit, Governor Josh Green has confirmed that no fatalities have been reported, while over 230 people have been rescued. He has also warned residents to be cautious on the roads, telling Hawaii News Now: “There’s still major flooding all over the place, do not drive through deep water.”
Momoa will soon be seen in Dune: Part Three, which is due out in cinemas later this year and will see him return as Duncan Idaho, while he also recently landed the lead role in the Helldivers 2 movie adaptation, set for release in 2027.
