Butter And The Genre Deliver A Rich, Live-recorded Jazz Experience With ‘Music Is Life’

A live-recorded studio album highlighting the band’s versatility, energy, and collaborative sound.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — March 2026 — Butter and the Genre have released Music Is Life, a live-recorded jazz album captured over two extended studio sessions in Edmond, Oklahoma. The project documents the band performing together in real time, emphasizing interaction, feel, and collective energy.

Rather than assembling tracks piece by piece, Music Is Life was recorded using full-band takes, allowing the musicians to respond to one another in the moment. The approach reflects traditional jazz recording values, where emotional honesty and ensemble chemistry take priority over studio polish.

The album’s focus track, “World of Joy and Pain,” sits at the emotional center of the project. The song explores contrast, with joy and loss existing side by side, offering listeners an entry point rooted in lived experience and feeling.

Blending classic jazz language with soul, groove, and modern pacing, Music Is Life honors tradition without imitation. The result is a dense, present-sounding record that captures musicians responding to one another in real time — a snapshot of a band coming together through shared time, trust, and performance. The album reflects where Butter and the Genre are as a band today and is supported by accompanying visuals and live appearances.

“This album is about connection,” says bandleader Gregory “Butter” Haubrich. “We recorded it live, together, in real time — what you hear is exactly what happened in the room.”

Music Is Life is available now on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.
