Miley Cyrus has spoken about the prospect of headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show, saying it would be “too much pressure”.
The pop star is currently the bookies’ favourite to top the bill at next year’s event, after Bad Bunny achieved the most-watched Halftime Show of all time with his recent performance.

During a new interview with Variety, Cyrus was asked whether she would accept an offer to take on the huge slot in 2027. However, she didn’t seem too keen on the idea.
“I always think the Super Bowl feels like too much pressure,” the singer told the outlet.
“I would have to do the mental work of making it not about the Super Bowl, because then you can’t help but go, ‘It’s millions of people, and it’s the most-watched thing in the world’.
“But if I could find a way to make it exactly what the Hannahversary [for Hannah Montana] was – taking a journey through the discography and appreciating each song, each era for what it is – I think I could find it in myself.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, Cyrus shared that she still had no plans to tour again any time soon.
“I actually miss and love live shows,” she reasoned. “But me being on the road for six months out of the year and leaving my family and my normalcy and my routine is just not best for me.”
In recent years, Cyrus has mostly performed live at select festivals and for TV events, as well as her putting on intimate private shows at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.
Cyrus confirmed in 2023 that she would be taking a hiatus from touring, and explained her reasons for doing so. “It isn’t what’s best for me right NOW,” she wrote in a note to her fans.
“For clarity I feel connected to my fans NOW more than ever. When I win, WE win. Even if I don’t see them face to face every night at a concert, my fans are felt deeply in my heart.”
She continued: “I’m constantly creating and innovating new ways that I can stay connected to the audience I love — without sacrificing my own essentials.”
Later that year, the star said that touring wasn’t “healthy” for her. She revealed last spring that Harrison Ford had talked her out of “performing in the forest” to promote her latest album, ‘Something Beautiful’. Cyrus instead created a film of the same name, which was screened in UK cinemas for one night only.
The artist performed as part of the Super Bowl Music Fest in 2022 and appeared at a special TikTok Tailgate show ahead of the Super Bowl the previous year.
Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl 2026 show celebrated the history and diversity of Latin music styles. He was joined onstage by Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin.
Last year’s Halftime Show was headlined by Kendrick Lamar. Usher topped the bill at the event in 2024, following Rihanna in 2023, Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J Blige, and Kendrick Lamar in 2022, and The Weeknd in 2021.
In January, Miley Cyrus reflected on the competitive nature of awards season, saying that “performance runs so much deeper than a scoreboard”. It came after she shared ‘Dream As One’ from the Avatar: Fire And Ash soundtrack.
The singer had previously gone to the 2025 Oscars to pitch herself as a songwriter for film.
