On February 22, Korean Canadian R&B artist Junny brought his tour to Club Dada in Dallas, and it was a night that fans in the area will not be forgetting anytime soon. The intimate Deep Ellum venue was the perfect setting for an evening full of smooth vocals, honest songwriting, and a whole lot of heart.

The night kicked off with opener Hohyun, the 21 year old Korean R&B singer and producer whose real name is Jason Hohyun Lee. His sound blends Korean and American influences together through layered vocal harmonies and bilingual lyrics, touching on themes of loneliness, heartbreak, and feeling lost. What made his set so memorable though was how personal it got.

Hohyun used his time on stage to speak openly about mental health struggles, and more specifically about the stigma that surrounds mental health in the Asian community. It was a brave and refreshing thing to see from a young artist, and the crowd responded with real warmth. Songs like these feel less like performances and more like conversations, and Hohyun made everyone in that room feel like they were a part of one.

Then came Junny. The Korean Canadian singer songwriter has built a reputation for music that feels deeply personal and emotionally rich, rooted in a lifelong love of R&B that has stayed at the core of everything he makes, even as he explores different sounds. Having grown up in Vancouver before eventually moving to Seoul, his music reflects both worlds, and you can hear that in every song.

His setlist covered a wide stretch of his catalog, from fan favorites like Energy and Color Me to more reflective cuts like Weight of Time and SEASONS. The show had a natural flow to it, moving between upbeat moments and quieter, more emotional ones, and Junny guided the audience through all of it with ease. By the time he closed out the night, the room felt like it had been through something together.

Both Hohyun and Junny write music that deals with real feelings, identity, and the kind of emotional weight that does not always get talked about out loud. Seeing them share a bill felt intentional in the best way. If this tour has not made a stop near you yet, it is worth keeping an eye out. Nights like this one do not come around all that often.
