Sebastian Bach apologises over reports he had a relationship with Christina Applegate when she was 17

Sebastian Bach has issued an apology after reports emerged that he engaged in a relationship with Christina Applegate when she was 17.

Former Skid Row singer Bach made headlines last week following the release of Applegate’s new memoir, You With The Sad Eyes, in which she shared that she’d had a relationship with Bach when she was 17.

In the book, she said it began when she ditched a pre-fame Brad Pitt for the singer at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards. Pitt, she wrote, was “not surprisingly…very mad at me,” though the two settled their differences some years later. “Eventually, we agreed that I’d been a child, and though he deserved much better, it was time to forgive the child who dumped him for the lead singer of Skid Row.”

The Dead To Me star also included a diary entry in her book in which she wrote of feeling “out of control” after learning that Bach had a one-year-old child at the time. “What a dick… I had really started to like him,” she wrote, per People.

Applegate’s entry went on to say that she was grateful she hadn’t slept with Bach, and didn’t want to be his girlfriend, but was upset that he’d spent the night at her house and “befriended” her while having a long-term partner and child.

Addressing her claims in a new interview with Billboard, Bach said he was “very surprised” when the headlines hit.

“I was a single guy on tour, in a band, and I met a lot of girls and I apologise if I hurt her – if I hurt anybody,” he said. “When you’re young you get thrown into the whirlwind of rock ‘n’ roll, meeting a lot of people and you better hold on tight. It’s like being on a roller coaster. It was a long time ago. If I hurt anybody, I apologise for it.”

In the same interview, he also touched on his new role as the vocalist of Twisted Sister in the place of frontman Dee Snider. Bach is set to take over Snider’s duties for the upcoming tour, which marks their 50th anniversary and first reunion in 10 years, following their retirement from touring in 2016.

Bach told Billboard that Snider had given him “his blessing”, and had “just explained that he was very, very happy being a grandpa, and the doctors told him he can’t do it.”

“It’s like how the guys in my solo band are younger than me,” he continued. “The same way those guys give me an extra shot of energy, I’m kind of like the same thing to Twisted Sister.”
