Ghost Of Yotei and other PlayStation exclusives won’t be released on PC, claims a new report from people “familiar” with Sony’s plans.

Since 2020, Sony has released its biggest franchises such as God Of War and The Last Of Us on Xbox and PC. However, according to an article from Bloomberg, Sony is planning on scrapping those “multi-platform” releases for PlayStation-created games after six years of “flirting” with the strategy.
“There are likely a few reasons behind this shift,” wrote Bloomberg. “One is that several recent PlayStation games have not sold well on PC. A faction within PlayStation has also expressed concern that releasing their games on PC risks damaging the console’s brand and will hurt sales of the PlayStation 5 and its successors, according to the people familiar with Sony’s inner workings.”
Online multiplayer games like Marvel Tokon and Marathon will be released on rival platforms, as will games developed by external studios such as Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. However plans to release Ghost Of Yotei on PC were recently scrapped.
When the release date of Marvel’s Wolverine was announced last month, there was no mention of a PC launch.

It’s also been reported that the next generation of Xbox consoles will use Windows 11, meaning users will be able to play PC games, including anything released by Sony.
“The next-gen console is going to be a very premium, very high-end curated experience,” former Xbox boss Sarah Bond explained in an interview last year, shortly after the release of the handheld PC/Xbox hybrid ROG Xbox Ally. “You’re starting to see some of the thinking we have in this handheld but I don’t want to give it all away,” Bond added.
The PlayStation 6 and the new Xbox consoles were originally expected to launch at some point next year but the delay of Grand Theft Auto 6 and the increased scarcity of memory chips means a 2027 release is now the “beast case scenario”.
In other news, Donald Trump’s White House has been heavily criticised for a “terrifying” video that shows footage of the Iran conflict alongside clips of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
