The 2026 Winter Olympics wrapped up yesterday (February 22) and to celebrate, a number of professional ice-skaters took part in an Exhibition Gala that allowed them to perform to a sold-out crowd at Milano Ice Skating Arena without having to worry about judges scores.

Figure skating gold medalist Alysa Liu performed a new routine to PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson’s ‘Stateside’ remix, fellow gold medalist Amber Glenn danced to Lady Gaga’s ‘That’s Life’ while “quad god” Ilia Malinin ended his disappointing Olympic showing with a routine that featured four backflips.

Other skaters took things even further. Kazakhstan gold medalist Mikhail Shaidorov dressed up like Kung-Fu Panda before taking on Deadpool and Mortal Kombat’s Sub-Zero in a performance soundtracked by Carl Douglas’s ‘Kung Fu Fighting’. He finished things up by farting on them.

However the performance from Georgia’s Luka Berulava and Anastasiia Metelkina has gone viral on social media. Dressed up like Mortal Kombat fighters Sub-Zero and Kitana, the pair exchanged blows on the ice before Kitana delivered a “fatality” blow on Sub-Zero. You can see the whole thing here.

“As a huge fighting game fan, this was EVERYTHING!!,” wrote one fan. “Silver medal skating, gold metal meme-ery,” added another. “I’ve loved all these gala skates so much. I love seeing everyone just cutting loose and having fun,” said a third. “I could watch this a thousand times and still wouldn’t be tired of it,” explained another.

A sequel to 2021’s movie adaptation of Mortal Kombat is due to launch in May after it was delayed from its original October 2025 release date. Mortal Kombat 2 will star Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Hiroyuki Sanada as The Scorpion and Adeline Rudolph as Kitana. “The champions of Earthrealm, joined by Johnny Cage, are forced into battle against one another as they attempt to resist the rule of Shao Kahn, whose rise threatens the survival of Earthrealm and its defenders,” reads the official logline.

In other news, it’s been revealed how much Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen will cost when they launch on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 later this week.
