The track is set to feature in the new Disney and Pixar movie, which will be released in cinemas worldwide on March 6, and stars Piper Curda, Bobby Moynihan, and Jon Hamm.

According to Laughing Place, SZA’s new song was written specifically for the film, and will be played during the ending credits.

Is it so bad to pause the future to appreciate the past?/ Can we move on?/ It’s all so heavy, need more strength to carry on,” she sings in the slightly melancholic verse, backed by an ethereal piano melody before launching into the joyous chorus.

Caught in the friction, I’m on a mission/ Here’s to hopin’ there’s still a way/ In position, full of conviction/ Miss Tunnel-Vision to save the day.”

According to a report from Consequence, the American singer-songwriter was asked to record a track for the Hoppers soundtrack because the film’s director, Daniel Chong, is a big fan of hers.

He even used her songs as placeholders in the end credits, he shared in a recent press panel, before reaching out to her directly to contribute an original release.

“Every time we put a song there, it was a SZA song… We used ‘Good Days’ once, and then we used ‘Saturn’ once,” he explained. “And there’s just a vibe for those two songs that I think had a melancholy (feel) to it, and a sort of joy but sadness to it that really felt like that is the mood for the end of the movie.”

SZA started work on the track after finishing her run of co-headline dates with Kendrick Lamar on the ‘Grand National Tour’.

Hoppers follows a young woman called Mabel (Piper Curda), who has her mind transferred into that of a robotic beaver, in an attempt to get her to communicate with animals and help protect their environment when it comes under threat.

As for SZA, the contribution for the new movie comes as her aforementioned tour with Kendrick Lamar was confirmed to be the fourth highest-grossing of the year.

She has also made it onto Barack Obama’s music of the year list for 2025, and finished that year by both joining forces with Doechii for a defiant new single called ‘Girl, Get Up’, and slamming Donald Trump for using her music in an ICE video.
