The London trio are on the comeback trail this year with their first shows together since 2018, when they wrapped up touring in support of their latest studio album, ‘I See You’ (2017).

Their first scheduled performances of 2026 are at Coachella in April. Further festival slots are lined up for Kilby Block Party, Primavera Sound Barcelona and Porto, We Love Green, Open’er, Rock Werchter and more.

Now, The xx have revealed that they’ll be returning to the stage the week before Coachella. They shared in a post on social media that their “first show back in a while” is taking place on Saturday April 4.

The band directed fans to “sign up to be the first to know what’s next” – you can do so here. An official announcement with more information is “coming Monday” (February 23). See the post below.

Last March, The xx were pictured in the studio together after Jamie xx said they were “having a good time” working on things in the summer of 2024. Then, in September 2025, they shared some rehearsal footage following the Coachella line-up announcement.

“Picking up our instruments again. See you in the desert?” they said at the time.

The xx reunited onstage last summer at the 2025 edition of London’s LIDO Festival, where Jamie xx headlined.

Each member of The xx has pursued solo projects since The xx’s most recent album. Romy‘s debut solo effort, ‘Mid Air’, arrived in 2023. Late last year, she shared the “proudly queer love song” ‘Love Who You Love’. In 2022, Oliver Sim dropped his first solo record, ‘Hideous Bastard’. The bassist and singer then put out two tracks in 2025, ‘Obsession’ and ‘Telephone Games’. Jamie xx‘s second solo LP, ‘In Waves’, landed in 2024. The cut ‘Waited All Night’ featured his bandmates from The xx. He released the single ‘Dream Night’ last July.

Speaking to NME about progress on The xx’s new material at the BRIT Awards 2024, Romy explained: “We’re just keeping it really open and we’re up for trying new things, but it sounds like us. That’s all I can say right now.”

She continued: “We’ve learned a lot from our different solo projects and it’s cool to learn from each other again. We grew up together and we had a lot of experiences, but to then have time apart and learn new skills, get new musical ideas and experiences and compare them… it’s been a healthy break.”

Meanwhile, The xx have released a deluxe edition of their 2009 self-titled debut album featuring some bonus tracks and covers.
