Callum Turner refuses to comment on James Bond rumours

Callum Turner has refused to comment on rumours he could be the next James Bond amid high speculation.

The Eternity star recently became a bookies’ favourite for the coveted role, with Coral saying in December that he had 7-4 odds to succeed Daniel Craig, ahead of the likes of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Henry Cavill.

The actor was pressed about the speculation at the Berlin International Film Festival while promoting new film Rosebush Pruning.

“There are for some weeks now some speculations, rumours, reports that you are the next James Bond,” a journalist asked. “Could you share a little bit how you deal with this debate right now, this buzz? Can you live and work normally?”

Turner then responded: “You’re right, it’s very early for that question. I’m not going to comment on it. Thanks.”

Co-star Tracy Letts then poked fun by joking: “I’m sorry, I’m the next James Bond.”

“Tracy, I thought you weren’t going to tell anyone!” Turned quipped in response.

It comes despite a report by Deadline last year that Amazon – who took over creative control of the franchise in 2025 – were looking for a “fresh face” and “an unknown” for the role of 007.

While speculation continues, it has been confirmed that Dune‘s Denis Villeneuve will direct the next film while Peaky Blinders‘ Steven Knight will pen the screenplay.

Elsewhere, Charli xcx has discussed the possibility of recording the next Bond theme, admitting she doesn’t think she is “built for that”, though added to The Julia Cunningham Show: “Never say never. I’m open to it if they want to call me, which they won’t but, yeah. I think it might not be a fit, but that’s, well, yeah. It’s not going to happen now, is it? So amazing. I don’t know.”

Noel Gallagher has also addressed the idea of Oasis doing the next theme, telling Talksport: “What for Oasis to do it? Absolutely. Of course. It would be an absolute honour, and I think those kind of things should be done by Brits not Yanks.”

Meanwhile, last summer it was confirmed that Turner had gotten engaged to Dua Lipa following months of fan speculation, the singer telling British Vogue: “It’s very exciting. This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don’t know, be best friends forever—it’s a really special feeling.”
