The Marty Supreme star had a small role in the 2014 sci-fi movie, about a former NASA pilot (Matthew McConaughey) who embarks on a mission to save mankind. He played McConaughey’s son as a teenager, with the character being played as an adult by Casey Affleck. Chalamet would go on to become a star in his own right thanks to the Dune films and movies such as Wonka, but during a post-screening conversation with Nolan the actor revealed it’s his favourite role.

“Though my role is not enormous in ‘Interstellar,’ I think I was number 12 on the call sheet, this film came to me at a time in life, in my career, where things were certainly not set yet,” Chalamet said (via Variety). “And it’s remained my favourite project I’ve ever been in. It’s the film I’ve seen the most of, of all the films ever made in human history.”

Nolan told an amusing anecdote about working with the actor, recalling him moving away from what was asked from him while filming a scene where the movie’s lead receives recorded messages from his family.

“When you were filming the messages from home, there was a particular thing where you were hitting a dark tone,” the film maker said. “It felt too much for me. I didn’t particularly like it. I told you about it and you went ahead and did whatever the fuck you wanted and carried on. But I was like, ‘He knows what he wants to do and has an idea.’ It wasn’t about being stubborn. You had planned what you wanted to do. You planned your choices and you didn’t want to abandon that on a casual whim for me.”

Recently, Chalamet admitted at another Q&A session that he spent “six figures” of his own money in order to be able to perform Bob Dylan songs on Saturday Night Live. Elsewhere, the actor was described as a “prick” by Woody Allen’s wife, Soon-Yi Previn, as part of emails released in the Epstein files.
